The historic nature of Newport is one of its most defining characteristics, and something that draws visitors each year from around the world. Newport was once a thriving port city, later becoming the summer playground for America’s wealthiest and most prominent families during the opulent Gilded Age. The “summer cottages” these families once built on the shores of Newport, now known as the mansions, are the top attraction in the area. But, beyond the mansions and beautiful rocky shoreline, Newport has a variety of other wonderful attractions worth visiting. One such place is the Audrain Auto Museum. Book your room at our #1 rated Bed and Breakfast today, and come explore Newport with us this summer.
Audrain Auto Museum
The Audrain Auto Museum is a celebration of America’s Machine Age; a time when automobiles came to define modern life. In total, the Audrain Auto Museum houses a collection of over 200 automobiles dating back to 1899, many of which are rare and highly prized. However, only 15-20 of these vehicles are on display at any given time, with exhibits changing often. Their current exhibit, Sweet Rides | Summer Fun, is nothing short of spectacular. It opened on June 30th, and will be on display until October 21, 2018.
Motors and Mansions
This summer, the Audrain Auto Museum has teemed up with the Newport Mansions for a series of Motors and Mansions events. At these events, put on with The Preservation Society of Newport County, guests will enjoy a selection of cars and coffee each month from now through October. Both the mansion and the featured cars will change each time. The next event will be held August 4, 2018, at Chateau-sur-Mer.
