Although our national competition and search for Beatrice Turner
paintings--sponsored by Newport Legends, publisher of Beatrice,
and Newport's Cliffside Inn--has ended, we continue our quest to
find more of her stunning artwork. Once the summer home of Beatrice
Turner, now a luxury inn, Cliffside permanently displays more than
100 Beatrice Turner art works and wants to acquire more.
HERE'S WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Despite the fact that thousands of Turner paintings were destroyed in 1949
by the executors of her estate, our research has convinced us that
there are many, many more of her art works "out there,"
somewhere, waiting to be identified. We're looking for authentic
Beatrice Turner self-portraits painted in oil.
HOW TO GET STARTED AND WHERE TO LOOK:
Beatrice Turner paintings may be found almost anywhere. So far they have turned up in
Florida, North Carolina, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
They were found in antique shops, yard sales, art galleries, junk shops and private homes.
One was found on the wall of a college administration building. There may be one hanging
on the wall or in the attic or garage of the house in which you or a friend or
relative are living right now.
Until now, you probably wouldn't have known what to look for in
searching for a Turner painting. We've recently made it much easier
to recognize one. You can take careful look at some 70 of her artworks
in our recenty published book Beatrice.
(Click for information about the book.) Or, you can examine 10 Turner
self-portraits right here on the website.
THE RULES:
- Eligible paintings must be authentic original Beatrice Turner self-portrait oil
paintings.
- Entrants must notify the Cliffside Inn in writing of their find. Winners will be

Note: it is not necessary for entrants to buy or own the paintings themselves, but merely
to locate and report them to us.

- The judges will be selected from a group of current owners on Beatrice Turner paintings.
In case of ties or disputes, the decisions of the judges will be final and controlling.
- Winners will be notified by mail.
- The competition will end at midnight (EST) on December 31, 2002,
or when five self-portraits have been found in the searchwhichever
occurs first. As we mentioned earlier, this contest has officially
ended. But the search goes on ...........
